Abs are not made in the Dough Boy's Kitchen!

Welp- Guess what, I can't eat whatever I want no matter how hard I train. It really didn't take me 9 weeks to figure out. I would say it took me 9 weeks of stubborn arguing with myself to get over it! I don't have any measurements or weigh in checks for the first time EVER. I made it a point to judge solely off appearance. I did finally weigh and I Lost 3lbs from my March date. Which was shocking because I feel like I put on a 100lbs. I stuck to a 90% clean diet for 9 weeks. Teacher Appreciation Week nearly killed me. When you work in the office of a elementary school you are the main drop off for all things junk food related. I didn't give in every day but you can only turn down Olive Garden and fresh donuts so many times before they start calling your name! I also had several orthodontist visits this last month that then took my diet in the opposite direction, strictly liquid for 4 days.. YUCKO! But over all I am starting to see some abdominal shredding so I will keep at it, bread I have learned to live without, however I tried to be Paleo for a whole 6 hours and then I had to have some cheese!

As I hit the first official pool day of the year I was being rather hard on myself because I think I could/should have done better. Whenever I tend to bully myself I find it's time to look back and give a pat on the back for where we came from. It's easy to forget what the reflection in the mirror used to look like instead of that I don't see Megan Fox in my current reflection. So if you follow me on IG (@thehaileyd) I gave a description when I posted this.
Photo1 /Aug 2011- The day I decided I was disgusted with myself and had to make a change. I have ZERO self esteem and 100% self hate!
Photo 2- After fixing photo one and about 40 lbs later, I had to have major surgery with a 12 week downtime due to my Endometriosis aka the black plague of my life.
The last two are recent photos obviously :)

Last but very not least: Probably one of the most important progress photo's I have ever taken.
Now the Nay Sayers of the world will say it's cosmetic, I am NOT against cosmetic procedures IF it is something you can NOT change. I have HATED my smile for the majority of my life. I have been teased and made fun of for it by more people than I can count. I have had small kids point it out and a few rude little kids I would like to punt like a football. So I am changing it. How you feel if every time you laughed or smiled a part of you cringed? YOU WOULDN'T WANT TO SMILE! What's a world without smiling and laughing! So now I have been called brace face & metal mouth only 20 to 50 times, I am sure that will go up! But I am dealing, it's worth it in the end right?!? and No pain no gain..

In the words of my favorite fish.. Just Keep Swimming!

Clean it up

I was reading a blog about pushing past your greatest obstacles. I know without a doubt that my greatest obstacles are my emotions. There are days when I let them rule me and everything in my life.  I am always my worst critic and never my greatest supporter.
How do I push past that?
Well I don't know yet but I am going to give it everything I have to do it.

Tomorrow marks 9 weeks until our summer break. I have been killing myself in the gym every free second of time I have the past couple weeks. I have finally fallen in love with the gym. Don't get me wrong, I still don't like the workout. However, I love to let all the tension, stress, and daily yuck out! It is an instant mood improver. Aside from being a working mom, I am an oilfield mom which means for weeks at a time I am a single parent and not by choice.
So sweating it out keeps mommy a little closer to sanity!
It took months to get over my gym fear. I know so many of us avoid it because we are afraid;of being judged, of not knowing what to do, or flat out insecurity. I was all of the above, some I still am.
My solutions to gym fears:
  • Get through the door it's the hardest part.
  • Ear buds, drown out the outside world and focus on you. Eventually you will find you don't need to.
  • Get a buddy, this to me has been the most beneficial thing. Someone to help you stay on task, commiserate with, celebrate with and bounce ideas off.
  • Make sure it is someone with the same goal set in mind as you. I am pretty sure my gymrat buddy keeps me going long after my head says go home! Even though she runs circles around me.
  • Ask! Don't be afraid to ask people questions. Most gym goers are happy to give input even if they look like a douche-canoe!
  • Most importantly- laugh at yourself! Example:Yesterday my set called for single arm machine preacher curls. I couldn't even lift the bar let alone add weight to it. As those creepy failure thoughts crept into my head and the voice started to whisper you suck go home, I busted out laughing! I looked like a fool. But someday I will be able to rock those bad boys!!

I always do my best not to overwhelm myself with too much fit trauma. I know my emotions well enough to know that I will go into shut down mode. So now that I feel I have my fitness in control it is time to knock the diet into check.
First off, I do not have a bad diet. Yet, I do not have a clean one either.
My main issues lie in:
Carbs (the wrong kind and the wrong time)
Not enough protein
Most times not enough food
(My maintain calorie intake is 1885, I have a bad habit of getting busy and not eating enough
I always get over 1200 it's the area between there and the 1885 that is fuzzy!)

So 9 weeks of clean eating here I come. I am digging deeper into my macro intake. It's a long scary process, I am still a tad lost but I will figure it out eventually.
My greatest accomplishment will be kicking sweet tea.
It is my worst addiction! Just had my last one and I am already missing it ha ha :)

I have my supplements all lined out.
Food prepped for a couple days
Measurements taken (No WEIGHT, NO SCALES)
However, I did stand on the scale and let the trainer see it but not me so he could redo my BMI & BF%
I will try to post an update with all that info tomorrow!

I want to know..

January Challenge-This is why I Squat!

Before I get into the squatting! If exercising on a regular basis is completely foreign to you here are some things I think you should know!

1. If you are a woman, you are obsessed with the number on the scale. It's something in our genetics that makes us go crazy over it. "The scale lies" is a common term used in the fitness world. Which isn't completely accurate in my opinion. The scale doesn't lie, but no two scales are the same and the scale doesn't know the whole truth. Weight fluctuates throughout the day and week. The scale doesn't tell us if the number is due to water retention, bloating, swollen muscle or any of the things that can make the scale move. If your starting a new eating routine your body can freak out and do all sorts of stuff! So if you are going to be a scale junkie weigh in during the same time frame and same circumstances.

2.If you insist on using scales, you also must use a tape measure! I would recommend strictly using just a tape measure but in true junkie fashion I know half of you have already been on the scale today! Inches unlike the scale know what's up! Losing inches is what is going to get you into the smaller clothes anyway. Measure everywhere (knowing that you lost 5 inches in your thighs will excite the heck out of you) Here is a link that guides on measuring :http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/fitness_articles.asp?id=1281

3.Eating too little is as harmful as eating too much! I can't count the times I have heard "Well I am only eating 700 calories a day and can't lose any weight." Well friends that is because your body is PISSED off at you for starving it so everything you put into your body it is holding on to it for dear life, storing it up for winter....right in your....gut!! You have to push past 1,200 calories before you will start to burn. If your over 200 lbs. you probably need more like 1,400 as a minimum! I do recommend My Fitness Pal to track your food intake. However, their take on fitness and burning calories is a JOKE!

4. Take pictures, even if no one but you sees them. One day you will be happy to have them to look back on. I didn't dare show my pictures to the world until I was comfortable with what I looked like. It's hard to see progress in a mirror day in and day out. Take a beginning photo, one week, and then maybe once a month after that. It works best if you have someone else take it. Dress in what you feel appropriate in.

I hope that addresses some of the questions I got off my last post. Now onto the fitness challenge of the month.. SQUATS!!

In strength training, the squat is a compound, full body exercise that trains primarily the muscles of the thighships andbuttocks, quads (vastus lateralus medialis and intermedius), hamstrings, as well as strengthening the bonesligamentsand insertion of the tendons throughout the lower body. Squats are considered a vital exercise for increasing the strength and size of the legs and buttocks, as well as developing core strengthIsometrically, the lower back, the upper back, theabdominals, the trunk muscles, the costal muscles, and the shoulders and arms are all essential to the exercise and thus are trained when squatting with the proper form.[1]

In case you had no clue what a squat was. There is the official answer!  There are so many variations of the squat it would be hard to do all of them so I chose the top 3 I could find for this month's challenge!
I will also be going up in weight every week. Also 36 is a lot to do at once so I broke it apart a bit.  Goal for me is to squat more than my body weight all across the board! Never be afraid to modify for what works for you. Don't let someone else's ability intimidate you into hurting yourself. You will end up at home on the couch instead of at the gym! If your really a newbie: Start with body weight squats! Use the Internet to find proper form for a workout if you don't know it. You don't have to look like a fool at the gym thanks to modern technology. I really like bodybuilding.com they will show you a workout and workouts that do similar things in case you don't have access to exactly what the video has! I am posting a link to their site in case you want to look around and try it out!

That being said.. It is time to take my vitamins, drink my pre-workout, and take my butt to the gym!
Happy Squatting Everyone- Next Month is the Plank Challenge!!

Who said the "F" word?

Let's talk about the worst word in the English language. The "F" word, and by that I mean FAT! The word every woman despises and the word that bites like a bullet to the heart when thrown at you!
If you haven't ever read my blog before let me help you out so you aren't reading back 45 post for this to make sense. I used to be a Fluffy girl, I am 5'6" on a good day and my heaviest non prego ranged in upwards of 200 lbs. My scales went up and down frequently through the past 11 years until August of 2011 when I decided I had enough of hating myself. Ta-Da that pretty much brings us to today. I by NO means consider my self fit or even toned. I am a skinny work in progress! Pics on the left are that day in August and pics on the right are me 21 weeks post 95% Hysterectomy due to Endometriosis
Now I didn't start this post to toot my own horn. If you know me you would know there is very little tooting in my world. I like most every woman on planet earth have terrible self esteem/self image! I started writing this because it is the diet industries "HUNTING" season. Every where you go there is an ad, commercial, or some person trying to shove their idea of the quick fix down your throat. So, I wanted to share some of my miraculous in sites into this.
A. There are a million different products out there that will help you get to where you want to be. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is a quick fix pill. Their are shakes, oatmeals, cereals, drinks, frozen this and that, coffee's, teas, the list goes on and on and probably 8 out of 10 of them will work....IF YOU WORK WITH IT! In other words, be consistent. Find something that taste good, doesn't make you feel lousy and doesn't break the bank. If it is nasty and gives you the jitters you won't make it past February 1st neither will your checking account!
B. Don't let someone talk you into something because it worked for them. Every body is different for everybody! Speak to someone who knows what they are talking about if you have questions about calorie and protein intake. GOOGLE AND MY FITNESS PAL ARE NOT A VALID SOURCE OF INFORMATION!
C. Know your own level of dedication. For instance: When I started if you told me I had to go to a gym 5 to 6 days a week I never would have followed through. Some people can cold turkey the couch life and some can not. I was a total NOT. Now that being said I can totally do that now, but I have learned enough to know what I can and can not do. What works for me and what doesn't. If I want to indulge in the Holiday yummies I am going to sweat it out and the gym! I didn't have that much self control when I started. Body by Vi worked great for me, it gave me options but in a spectrum I could handle. Now if you can jump off the couch and cold turkey off junk and booze and bread well GOOD FOR YOU, You are way better than me!

Moral of the story is, don't set out to lose weight. Set out to get healthy, you will lose those pounds in the process and end up in a much happier place for it. Don't believe something is a miracle because the only thing that is going to save you is you! You don't have to stick to one companies product line! Mixing and Matching is great for me. I use 3 different kinds of Protein powder. I have used assorted metab. boosters, pre-workouts, and vitamins. (P.S. take your vitamins) If you love Herbalife tea, but prefer something else from Plexus or advocare or BBVI or shakeology or.. see this could go on forever then by all means take it! Last but certainly not least. DO NOT wait until January 1st. Be aware of what you are eating and the physical activity you have right now. Of course we are going to over-do it for Christmas dinner. Just don't pack on an extra 40 lbs between now and then! If you are serious about getting into those smaller pants than be serious right now not just next week.

Happy Holiday's Fitfam

Becoming a healthy-happy you will give you much more time here with them!

Bunshop Closed-6 Weeks post Hysterectomy

Today I am officially 6 weeks post op Hysto. I had a DaVinci system hysterectomy taking my uterus, tubes, cervix, and one ovary. I was also scraped again of all my endo and two cyst off my right ovary. The Dr. left it so that hopefully I can milk it for hormones for a couple years to avoid medicated hormones. It wasn't really where I thought I would be at only 28 years old but after years of suffering and trying every other option out there for endometriosis treatment it is what I was left with. Although I already had been told I wasn't in the market to have more kids this just kind of made it final. Not helping that everyone around me has a baby or is having a baby..Insert slap in face here!

I had my post op yesterday hoping to be cleared but no such luck. My internal stitches are still there and I have two scars that have gone Keloid which is kinda crappy! Needless to say it wasn't a great deal. I am however Cancer free so there is something to be happy about.
As far as other recovery I am 99% pain free unless I do something I shouldn't have then I pay for it. Fatigue is massively kicking my ass though! This has been my hardest struggle I can't go go go which was my one and only speed! Hormones are all over the board, my poor family! I have cried over the stupidest things lately and my feelings are massively hurt over stupid stuff! What can ya do!
 Cry that's what!!

October 8th is my clear date and time to kick my rear back into shape...literally it's quite pancake looking at this point and NO ONE wants a pancake ass! 2 years ago when they boys went back to school is when I made the big decision to change my lifestyle. So again I am going for it, dear Lord I might even go get a gym membership ha ha scary I know! I have obvious watched what I was eating because I have a bad habit of eating the world while I am taking pain medication. I have had a few splurged, mostly in the way of alcohol! But I did have pizza hut on 2 occasions. I have slacked on my shake a day. Eating and me after surgery hasn't gone very well. I ate like a bird the first 2 weeks because everything made me sick to my stomach and the thought of throwing up terrified me! My appetite still isn't back to normal, but getting there. My eyes are still bigger than my stomach. I got a naked burrito at Qdoba yesterday and I think I will eat on it for a week!!
Stay tuned for updates, that is if I don't kill myself right out the door! I haven't measured and Bryan isn't home to do so today but I am sure I will get it at some point. I am not even going to attempt my BMI because the clicker will probably tell me my muscle mass is negative zero. For the first time in my life I am upset about being "skinny" especially as the other half of me just keeps on building muscle that I am losing! I think it's theft not all that working out he does! (My story and I am sticking to it) I am 118 lbs of flab! How great is that NOT! Currently I can walk.. up to but not exceeding 1 mile. No lifting/straining over 10 lbs and no pushing or pulling in that range either! I am trainer/gym shopping because I don't work well with my husband. God I love that man but we clash in the fitness department and I end up wanting to strangle him as my means of working out! I am also his wife so he lacks the positive reinforcement my fragile self needs! It's like saying do I look fat in these jeans..He has always had an honest response of well maybe you should change! Which I have always appreciated because I would hate to be the one people are pointing at in public for the worlds greatest muffin top! So email me/facebook me with your tips and tricks!!

This is before pic - through day 19

This is Day of Surgery to exactly 6 weeks

Skinny Apple Dump Cake

I saw a post on Pinterest for an Apple Dump Cake. After reading it I knew there was no way I could allow myself to partake in it's gooey yuminess the way it sat. So I had to skinny it up a bit!!

Original Recipe:

Ingredients
  • 1 box vanilla cake mix (2400)
  • 2 (21 oz) cans apple pie filling(1260)
  • 1/2 cup butter, cut into 1/2 Tbsp slices(1628)
  • 1 cup rolled oats(300)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar(829)
  • This yields 12-15 servings at 535-428 calories per serving!

How to Make
  1. Preheat oven to 350°
  2. Spray a 9x13 baking dish with cooking spray
  3. Pour both cans of apple pie filling into the bottom of the dish
  4. Spread the dry cake mix on top of the apple pie filling
  5. Evenly place the butter on top pf the cake mix
  6. In a bowl combine the oats and the brown sugar and sprinkle that on top of the whole cake
  7. Bake for approx 50 minutes, golden and bubbly.
  8. Cool on wire rack.
  9. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream

My Skinny take on it!

90 days to Fit!

Here goes our first ever all in Fitness Challenge!
We have both chosen the amazing Body By Vi Fit Kit!

We (mostly I) have vowed to only weight on days 10/30/60/90.
And I am not listing the program we chose to use because we want to give ourselves time to form our own educated/practical opinion on it! Without anyone Else's influence! So I will reveal the program of choice after the 90 Days!

Not all Protein is created Equal

Check out what Andy Fidino says about the quality and quantity of our pure protein:
“Before I started my 90 day challenge I was taking 300g protein, had an amazing nutritional plan, working out like a BEAST and STILL wasn’t seeing any of the results I was looking for. Then I started my challenge. :) I had 800% faster results and I felt sooooo good! My whole body responded with strength and muscle gains! Even the muscle groups that I wasn’t working as hard had amazing results. :) I’ll always be on the 90 day challenge!!”
~Andy Fidino
Men's Physique Champion
Moral to the story: All proteins are NOT created equal!

Visalus took lots of time in creating our patent protein!Yes you can go to walmart or GNC and buy any protein shake off the shelf but...
The key is that not all proteins are created equal. If you read the nutritional labels, some will use gelatin to 'spike' the grams of protein, great for skin and hair, but not so good at building muscle. Some use milk powder or milk protein, great for bone health, but not so good at building lean muscle. Some use whey, which is ok, but only about 75-80% absorbed. So with ours, its quality, not quantity...and we absorb more because of our blend.

Challenge #3 update!

My third Body by Vi challenge I have labeled "Be the fit chick" as some of my haters have pointed out skinny isn't fit. YOUR RIGHT but I spent a lot of time in chunky unhealthy land so I am ok with skinny for now. Someday I will be that other girl who likes to workout and go for a jog. Today I still struggle with it, I workout 4 to 5 days a week. I use various home programs or the c25K program. I currently use a Core Kit somedays if I am in a hurry I still have two shakes. I had a really busy week where I got into a run of Shake for breakfast and eating nothing else until dinner. I felt HORRIBLE!! Then after I was naggin a teammate for the same reason I though geez take your own advice! So those days I am too busy to grab lunch I Shake It!

What a SIZE 3!!! LOVE THAT FEELING!

So we are a little over half way through this challenge. I have maintained my weight loss! In fact I have gone down a lil from my last end challenge. I also haven't measured purposely. I am doing my very best to not live by the scales! I know I went WAY beyond what I thought I could ever do so I don't need those scales to validate me anymore so I put them away! Occasionally though they do find their way out! So I can tell you that as of today I have maintained since the end of February a weight in range of 118-121. It's never the same lol that is why you shouldn't rely on your scales! We have completely changed out eating habits! Listen when I tell you this is a lifestyle change you couldn't come off any plan and eat pizza and beer and maintain a weight loss. We eat as "clean" as possible! Don't eat a lot of red meat more fish and chicken and pork and Oh my weakness sushi! I don't consume alcohol except for rare occasions, pop is a major no-no :) and I haven't kicked my sweet tea habit completely although I can drink smart water, it just taste better not bitter !

THE HATER NOTE:
A. Seriously if I wanted to photoshop my pictures they would love a heck of a lot better than what they do. It took some major gustos to be able to post my true bare all photos, and I couldn't even do that until I had lost 20 lbs. So for once have some tack and hold your damn tounge or finger in this case cause typing filth is about all it amounts to.

B. I've said it before I will say it again! There are 100's of programs out there. Whatever you do I am HAPPY for you! Way to go for taking your life seriously enough to make a change. No matter what road you take it isn't an easy one. We didn't get unhealthy over night and we aren't gonna get healthy overnight. There will be slip ups and you will have small failures it's OKAY!  All I can do is tell you about my journey and the journey's of my amazing Vi-family and help you out if you choose to join us. Even if you choose not to join us it isn't going to change the fact that I want to help you. Ask around my advice is free lol

C. If you want to insult me either through technology or face to face. It is going to change the way I look at you and probably won't have that much to do with me in the future. Body By Vi is not just a shake I drink, it is a community of very tightly nit SUPPORTIVE people and it reaches far beyond the stretches of your small town. So if you think that it is some "FAD" that I brought from the big city to the small town that will soon run it's course and be gone out of your life like yesterdays garbage..YOUR WRONG! and trust me any insulting of Body by Vi I do take as a direct insult to me. I also don't mean you saying it didn't work for you or you didn't like it, that's not an insult. If you tell me it just wasn't for you hey that's perfectly fine! It is however the fastest growing health and fitness company in NORTH AMERICA not just your neck of the woods! They average over 100,000 new customers a MONTH! Over 1000 promoters a month qualify for BMW's do you get it yet? It's way more than the $$ and cars but let's face it people it takes some HARD work to earn those cars so when I post pics on facebook it's not to brag or show how materialistic we are or rub it in your face. It's a pat on the back for all our blood sweat and tears. When was the last time you worked hard and loved what you do for a living and even after that your company rewarded you with a car allowance? "Celebrate your Victories" in whatever form they come in. If you lost 5 lbs don't think of it as just 5 lbs. People that is FIVE LBS  that is alot! If your struggling...pick up the phone and call me or anyone of our team members I am always here for support! Ask my poor husband I am on the phone 24/7!

Anyway at the end of the day it isn't a dang diet. It's a lifestyle choice you HAVE TO MAKE THE CHOICE. If you don't want it for yourself it's never going to work. I will push you to the ends of where you want to be, yet I can't drag you because then one of us would be looking backwards when we should both be pushing forward. No one can force you to make this choice. You have to find your "WHY"  If you don't get that...Why am I doing this?? For myself, for my kids, for my family, for extra cash, to dig myself out of the hole I am in...WHY!! It also goes without saying.. YOUR WHY SHOULD MAKE YOU CRY if you feel that passionately about something you won't have a problem following through with it! Mine constantly changes, it started out I wanted to be able to stand in front of a full length mirror and not be disgusted with myself. As I go along I add more why's! When I get close to marking one off the list I add more so I am never not reaching for the better in life!

It's really cliche but I am gonna close with "Rome wasn't built in a day" So keep Challenging yourself!

8 months of Visalus!

Bryan's Beach Ready in 90 Challenge

I would like to say I have a photo of him before he lost 30 lbs but sadly NO, he wouldn't let me take pics when he started his weightloss challenge! So this is his first challenge that didn't involve weightloss. He is currently in his 3rd challenge which we will finish right as summer starts! Wahoo so ready for boating season!!!

ps: He now wishes he would have had that before photo! Love it when I am right!

Being apart of the Visalus community has also taught me so much and helped me grow so much personally. Nothing is impossible..I have come so far and have not gotten to where I want to be but I do appreciate where I have come from!

So let get onto the results...

For those of you who haven't been following from the beginning.. July 19th I weighed 151 lbs at a Dr. apt weigh in, My start date of Body By Vi was Aug. 18th at 147.8 lbs. 38" in chest waist and hips and around 35% Body fat.(that calculator and I don't get along well so that's a guesstimate)

I finished my first 90 Day challenge the week of Thanksgiving, which was rough lol  and rolled straight into number 2 which ran through Christmas-My Birthday-New Years & the Superbowl. So by gosh if I can make it through that I can do anything right ha ha! I hit cardio 4 days a week minus the last 2 weeks due to being sick and having some other health issues. On top of that I have a 10 sets of 10 workout(v-sits-bur pees-bridge-push ups- and a few others that I don't know the technical name for lol) that follows with 60 jumping jacks..60 sit-ups..60 Crunches that I did 3-4 days a week. Still looking for something to kick me into high gear for my next 30. I keep kicking back and forth between ordering a home program or taking my butt to the gym.

So Final results for this 90 days...

Training with the champs to be beach ready in 90 days.

Bryan and I started our new 90 Day Challenge. I don't know as if I have a number in mind for inches or weight. I just really want some visible results. Which means.......Exercise! I know it's the devil, but it's the only way I am going to get to look the way I want to look. We are both still on the shape kit. Since we are wanting to shed some lbs still while toning up.

We both survived turkey day without weight gain! We also ate what we wanted so for those of you who ask if we have to eat bird food on this diet..HECK NO! I just made sure the whole time we were out of town that I got my butt up and went for at least a 1 mile walk.  Although 5 days at my moms with her cooking was going to be the brink of my downfall! Luckily once we were back home the diet went back to normal!

(OH HOW HARD IT WAS TO POST THIS PICTURE ON HERE EEK SCARY)
So New Challenge started on 11-29-2011. Bryan is hitting the weight bench or hotel weight room whenever possible and when it's not he has resistance bands in the hotel room.  I had this bright idea to try the Couch to 5k program. Although the weather hasn't been helping with this. So I have collected a few different programs through out the Internet to try to supplement when I can't go outside. I am WIDE OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS in this category. I have the Zumba dvd's it's just I've watched them so much I can't really get into it anymore.

Starting Measurements taken on 11-28-2011:
Hailey:
Weight: 130.4
Waist: 30 inches
Chest: 35 inches (how depressing is this lol)
Arms: 11.375 (11 3/8) inches
Thighs: 21 inches

(I don't have his permission to post his before photos cause he's a chicken!)
Bryan:
Weight:152.6
Waist: 31.75 inches
Chest: 40 inches (how I wish this was my chest lmao)
Hips:32.5 inches

I am inviting you to join in with me. If you are reading this I KNOW you have something about you that you should-could-would change if you only had the time-money-support to do it. I am telling Body By Vi meets your goal for all of the above. From the guy who lost 124 lbs in 90 days to the guy who puts on 23 lbs of lean muscle in 90 days. From the every day gym lover to the person who's body physically can't allow them to exercise. It is heart healthy, diabetic friendly, gluten free and the non-gmo soy doesn't screw with estrogen levels which is a major plus for me. The less estrogen I have the better! I will be your support team. I will help you get your product for free. All I ask is to give it a serious 90 days. Isn't 90 days worth the fight?

I am also now a distributor! Wahoo!! I love that the team I found is so dedicated to helping others. I know alot of networking business are out to help themselves climb up the ladder but not these people! So along with rocking my awesome Monokini that I haven't ever worn in public I have this bad boy set on my 2012 goal list!

90 Days Complete...

Before I jump right into the results of my challenge. I need to thank everyone who has given positive thoughts in messages or Facebook comments and such. It means so much to me to have a support system like you guys. The Body By Vi community is a force to be reckoned with, I can post a comment about struggling or being stuck and within the hour I have a dozen people rallying behind me to keep me going. God Bless all of you for the life changing work you do everyday. I only hope I can go on to be as inspiring to other's as you all have been to me.  To those of you thinking of joining the challenge. Here is my advice. Give it 90 days. Don't give up, keep up on your snacks especially at the beginning that way your adjusting to the amount of food your not snarfing down on a regular basis. Find support, ask your team if something isn't working right for you what you could do to change it.

Here they are the Honest Results of my
Body By Vi 90 Day Challenge..

Starting Weight:147.8
Ending Weight:130.6

Ending Chest in Inches:35

Starting Hips in Inches:38
Ending Hips in Inches:34

Starting Waist in Inches:38
Ending Waist in Inches:30.5

My Arms and Thighs I didn't measure right from the start but here is the measurements I did get:

End Date:11.5

Legs day 46: 22.2"
End day Legs:20.5

Total Weight Loss:17.2 lbs
Total Inches Loss:16.7 inches

My original goal set in July during my mommy makeover consult was 130 lbs and down 5 inches. My official BBVi goal was 125 lbs and 5 inches ( being as 125 is my desired post surgery weight would have been around after the mommy make-over). I'm hoping my next 90 days I can tone up the terror left behind that is my mid section and kiss the make-over goodbye!

As I head into my next 90 Day challenge I am a little scared of the Holidays but I will not let fear break me down. Our Next Goal is "Beach Ready in 90 Days" for once I want to be more excited to buy a swimsuit then to shop for cover ups! Also I would love to be able to enter into the "Team Challenge" category and have my whole team rock Kansas City in March. Why wait till New Year's to set that goal! Who's with me???

My Middle leg of the challenge

Hello Faithful Readers!

Day 41 of my 90 day challenge. It seems a lot easier to stick to a routine now. I am still slowly chuggin away at my scale. I am down 10 lbs and 5 Inches! My original 90 day goal was 22 lbs and 5 inches, so I am half way there! 12 lbs to go in 50 days. Boy I hope this is possible! I really like the product. I have gotta a lot of grief from bloggers and or facebookers about Visalus and I know there are other products out there that are probably just as fantastic! But the point here is this is MY 90 DAY CHALLENGE! I did my research and this is what I felt would work best for me. So if you choose to leave a comment here keep that in mind! Your "Vi-shake sucks Shakeology rules" anonymous comments will not be published! Also some of the comments I received were very uneducated attempts at put downs!
 1. Visalus does not  give you one dollar amout and then charge you another. You pick your kit and there is your price. There are no hidden cancellation fees and such..
 2. The do have other products like Neuro and NutraCookie that if you want you can purchase, but  NO WHERE does it say you have to use these. In fact there are plenty of other snacks we have found that are healthy and work just fine. I haven't tried the Nutra cookie. I do have the Raz Neuro and I do like it. It's a good pick-me-up for the running ragged days!
3. You refer 3 people and their order is the same or more as yours..YOUR PRODUCT IS FREE. SO STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT COST!
I have started my hubby on vi shakes too. I won't publish his results but I will say Dammit why is it so easy for a man to loose weight ha ha! He was down 2 jean sizes in a little over a week.

I will say having a shake buddy makes this run smoother! I happen to think a support system is a major part to any of this lifestyle change stuff. Somewhere in between the "Oh wow you need to loose some lbs" and the "please like you don't  need to loose weight" comments it's nice to have someone to say I support you in whatever it is your trying to do. It also has began to mean something to me to see other people in my life want to take note to their health. Blake Mallen issued a "What does body by vi mean to you" challenge and while I didn't make a video I did make some serious revelations not just about me but my whole family. I want to never loose another family member because health wasn't on their priority list until it was too late. I want to break the cycle, not just physically. I want the word family to mean more to my children than pictures on the wall. I want to look in the mirror and for once in my adult life be more than ok with what is reflecting back at me.

Right now at this moment in my life Visalus is a big factor in making that happen. So that's what it means to me. As I sign up new team members I am just as excited for them to see results as I am for Bryan and myself!

I am also climbing on the fence about the mommy makeover. 4 months ago it was hit your goal so you can have this surgery and now I'm at least considering the fact of 12 lbs and however many inches from now I might not feel the same way about it. I toss this back and forth on a daily basis!! I guess we will see how I feel then.

The First 30

Rather than boring you with a day by day blog I thought I would compile this challenge in 30 days at a time.

Before starting I will add.. I purchased a "Hamilton Beach" shake mixer $11.99 at my local walmart.
Day One:First I will add I picked a terrible time of month to start this (ladies you will understand..bloated-irritable-sweet tooth-cramps- and a migraine)
Shake 1 7:30am  I went with just the standard shake with milk so I could get the taste for it. It wasn't too terrible. I might also add I am not a breakfast person. I am usually just a coffee person. So I missed the morning snack due to first day of school chaos at my house!
Shake 2 I used water(which I think was less filling) and some frozen Blackberry's. And I had a string cheese for a snack.
By Dinner mother nature was kicking my butt and due to cramps and a migraine I have a Valium and a Loritab for dinner and went to bed.

A friend Suggested Almond milk. After some research I found the BLUE ALMOND brand even flavored was only 40 Calories!
Day Two: Woke up feeling great. I downloaded the Visalus Recipe Book which has been a lifesaver cause I found a coffee shake!
Shake 1 9:30am I used 8 oz almond milk (which i prefer over water) 2 scoop vi-shake and 1tsp instant coffee and 1.5 pk chocolate cardio care. ( the 1 tsp was a lil too much next time ill do half)
        Snack1 String cheeses
Shake 2 Reg shake with a pack of peach complexion care. Wasn't bad I am just not a huge peach fan.
        Snack2 almonds
Dinner: Alfredo Penne (small helping) and steamed veggies. I will say this was not the healthiest thing I could find but being as I hadn't eaten solid food since Wednesday at lunch time I figured it was OK to cheat just a little.

Day Three:Again woke up feeling pretty good. Do notice it's a little easier to get outta bed in the morning
Shake 1 9:45 Again my version of the Mocha Latte (8oz almond milk-4 ice cubes-1.5 tsp instant coffee-1.5 pk of cardio care and vi shake mix) The half of teaspoon was perfect I could drink this all day long!
Snack which was actually about lunch time since I slept in today was 2 cheese sticks
Shake 2 about 2:15 I almost didn't mix shake 2 today I just wasn't feeling hungry at all but talked myself into it. My flavor was just a repeat of breakfast's shake. I love it so much!
Snack 2 nada didn't feel the need for it. Took my kids to CherryBerry and didn't even have the urge to take a bite!
I had a later dinner than I wanted to but had family in town and time just got away from us. So we went to Smash burger! I know what your thinking.. not diet food huh Hailey. Yet this is where most of my dieting problems ALWAYS lye.. eating out. So I ordered a Wedge and didn't even eat it all before I was full! Go me!!

Day 4: Against better judgement I jumped my chunky butt on a scale this am! DOWN 3 LBS IN 4 DAYS whoo hoo doggy!! By the time I have figured out kinda what works for me and what doesn't! So I worked out and treated myself to some veggies and rice from panda express since I had no snacks today and just my two shakes!

Day 5:Bryan came home today.Which is a HUGE challenge in my dieting. because well he always wants to eat out. I did manage to do really good with my shakes one snack and a salad and half a wrap at buffalo wild wings. When really I wasn't even that hungry. My sweet tooth did strike later this evening so I had a spoon full of peanut butter.

Days 6: I switched it up a little today and did Breakfast and Dinner for shake options cause I had a lunch date with my hubby!

Day 7.. One week down, 4.5 Lbs down

To skip boring my readers to death I am just gonna hit major landmarks from this point on!
So day 8.. I cheated I had a friend in town and its kinda hard to show em around and not eat lol!I did have my breakfast shake.  So we had Mexican food for lunch. I did have ZERO chips and only about 1/2 of a tortilla. I had spaghetti and meatballs for supper which I only ate a few bites of noodles and the meatballs. Plus about 4 or 5 glasses of wine. What's a girl supposed to when her bestie is in town and they haven't got to see each other in 8 months! P.s. Im a HUGE wino! Giving this up has been harder than chocolate!
Sunday was back to business as usual!

Day 14.. Weight 143.0 Lbs Chest 36( sad face lol) Waist 36 :) Hips 37
Not too shabby considering I haven't been pushing exercise  like I should. I really despise working out although I did get in a mile on the elliptical last night!

Day 21. sigh.. Still 143.0 Lbs but Chest is 36..Waist 35 and Hips 36.5

Day 25 the scale finally went down! Hallelujah!!

Day 30 I am completely still in love with this challenge. I can only hope my next 60 has been like the first 30. To the starters, I am not gonna lie it does take a little adjusting and tweaking to see what works for you. If I have a shake at 7 am I usually have to have a snack by lunch. Yet if I have a 9ish shake I'm good to go.If I try to stretch it out too far I do notice I get a little headache. Nothing advil can't fix though. I also ( on the personal side lol) this isn't a stay close to the bathroom diet plan. If you ever tried 48hr Miracle diet you know exactly what I mean. I only wish I knew more people where I lived so I could sing this from the rooftops! So instead I'm singing from the web!

I also want to add for the speculaters aka haters.. THIS IS NOT A DIET PLAN. This is a healthy lifestyle choice. I just happen to be shedding the inches while getting healthy. This isn't something you go back to life as normal when you hit your goal. This is a choice to be a better me. I don't judge you on whatever you do to get to where you want to be so don't judge me unless you have tried Vislaus Science supplements and have an actual educated guess! Ignorance is not bliss!!

"DON'T COMPARE YOUR LIFE TO OTHER'S. YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEIR JOURNEY IS ABOUT"

So in Honestys Sake- I really don't feel as terrible as I did when I posted this at the beginning. Here is Day 30s honest to goodness truth!

The 90 Day Challenge .. Start

If you know myself or my husband you know we rarely jump into anything we haven't extensively researched. So after much debate and a self esteem crashing trip to a plastic surgeon, I have enrolled in the Body by Vi Challenge through Visalus( www.haileyd.bodybyvi.com for more info). So I am gonna blog my way through my 90 days of challenge. With a goal set in mind of plunging into the rest of their opportunities if I believe in there products. Bryan has a family member who is involved and sounds like her and her husband rock the networking $$ aspect of this company. I am not much of a network marketer myself so I did some digging into this company and they are at the top of their game as far as their types of business go.

So against my better judgement.. I am going all out with the photos and weight specs here ( which I am sure I will regret later ugh) but that way at least you know this is an honest review/effort on my part. I will tell you I did the special K challenge.. lost the inch .. have kept it off but I grew really sick of eating cereal so I gave up.  I despise the way all those shakes you can get at walmart taste. They remind me of that chalky crap you have to drink before scopes EEK YUCK!! I am also a foody, I love to cook almost as much as I love to eat!I am not even gonna lie and say that a good Ole adderal or phentermine would do the trick but if you have been down this road you know it always comes back to bite you in the butt.. literally! Plus I have endometriosis so any of those medication that make you all hyped up contain a lot of caffeine which boost estrogen which leaves me in great pain at the end of the day. Not to mention they cause kidney stones!! Found that out the hard way too! My endometriosis is a large pain in the @** and my doctor has repeatidly told me "that fact that you can maintain a weight is a great thing Hailey" but that's just not good enough for me anymore. I wanna be healthier, I think I might be the only female left in my family not on blood pressure or hypertension medication. So I am seriously terrified of health issues to come.

So here is to me.. not even really loosing a bunch of weight to look like a super model ha ha but to being a healthier me. Someone that when your blown up on a 47' LCD screen at a doctors office you don't crash down into a full out mental breakdown!
Here it is.. Challenge start day
147.8LBS
38 Inches on chest-waist-and hips
(yes I am a perfect blob!)

AND I WILL SAY SHAKE NUMERO UNO!
TASTE AMAZING IT REALLY IS THE SHAKE MIX THAT TASTE LIKE CAKE MIX! CAN'T WAIT TO WAKE UP AND GO FOR IT!
